Shimla
Our Mountains are blessed with trails of lots of varieties and difficulties, and for any trekker, crossing a pass offers such a rewarding experience. Indian Himalayas give you a plethora of passes, of varying difficulty. One popular and insanely beautiful pass is the famed Rupin Pass (4,650m). Situated on the easternmost part of Himachal, the pass can be approached from the Garhwal side also. You can ride to Dhaula and start the trek from there. You enter Himachal just after crossing Sewa.
You can also trek from the Himachal side. After a long ride from Shimla to Jiskun over the fabulous Chansal Ghati, you can reach Jhakha on the first day of the trek. A few hours after Jhaka the valley widens and the trail offers mesmerizing views. The three-step waterfall is a sight to behold.Camping in front of it is an unforgettable experience. The ascent to the pass is through a boulder zone before the final steep gully. The descent is more gradual.
Difficulty: Intermediate
There may be some tricky sections, long stretches of ascents and descents. A cushion of 1-2 treks will be beneficial in this category. Advanced beginners, who are quite fit, have proper knowledge about the conditions, mentally strong, can try these treks too. Your stamina will be tested while ascending the pass. Make sure to build up stamina in the months leading to the trek.
Please Note:
