Leh
One of the finest treks in heaven, in Ladakh. It is also one of the few Teahouse treks in the Indian Himalayas. Markha Valley is rugged, colourful, covered with jagged mountains all around and filled with quaint villages and campsites. The Markha River and Kang Yatze peaks will give you company all along till you reach Kongmaru La (5,150m). On a clear day, with a bit of luck, you can see K2 from the top of Kongmaru La. The descent to Shang Sumdo is long and tiring, but we make sure a glass of beer is waiting for you in Leh in the evening! The trail is easy, but without proper acclimatization, this trek can turn out to be fatal. That’s why you MUST listen to all instructions of the Trek Leader about acclimatization before and during the trek.
Difficulty: Hard
Previous experience of trekking above 4,500 m is a MUST. The trekker needs to be prepared to walk on various terrains such as scree, snow and grass. The pass-crossing day will be long with some tricky sections while descending. Be prepared to walk in pretty thin air on the day you cross Kongmaru La.
Please note: On the last day, you should reach Leh by 5 – 6 p.m. Make any plans for onward journeys accordingly.
