One of the finest treks of Indian Himalaya that offers unparalleled views of giant peaks from close quarters. The trek to Goechala offers two vantage points to witness almost 360-degree peak views, one being Dzongri top, another is the Goechala viewpoint 1. The third highest peak in the world, Kanchenjunga is the main attraction, but peaks like Pandim, Tinchenkhang, Jopuno are in full show throughout most of the trail.
Rhododendrons in April are an added attraction. The trail above Tsokha looks almost from another planet with thick Rhododendron forests and wooden paved trails. Prepare to encounter snow if you are going in March-April.
Previous experience of trekking above 3,500 – 4,000m is helpful. The trekker needs to be prepared to walk on various terrains such as scree, snow and grass.
This trek can be attempted by advanced beginners. A cushion of 1-2 past experiences will make things easier.
